Bamana Mandala
Inspired by my travels in West African and Mexico.
This mandala is inspired by my time in West Africa. I've spent years living and traveling there to study the music and culture of the Bamana and Malinke people. They have a fascinating culture and their musical sensibility of magical. The symbolism the utilize in their creations is representative of the people themselves; grounded, connected and strong. This is a bold and simple design that embodies strength, protection and endurance.
I hope you enjoy this unique mandala.
My creations are hand drawn. I use primarily black ink, alcohol markers, colored pencils and graphite. My inspiration comes from the letting-go of internal and external expectations and the flow state of just being in the present moment; that place where time ceases to exist and we are free from all that defines us.
Creativity has always been a part of my life. We are all connected. Connection and connectivity are themes present throughout most of my visual art. I believe connection is at the heart of creation. I hope my designs inspire you to look inward, listen deeply and move forward with an inner knowing that all is well, and that you are loved, unique and divine.
