Dreamcatcher Mandala
A contemporary mandala the represents the Native American dreamcatcher concept. Native Americans of the Great Plains believe the air is filled with both good and bad dreams. According to dreamcatcher legend, the good dreams pass through the center hole to the sleeping person. The bad dreams are trapped in the web where they perish in the light of dawn.
My mandala creations are hand drawn. I use primarily black ink, alcohol markers, colored pencils and graphite. My inspiration comes from thinking about how I feel when I create them. I want to connect with that “space” again so I start another one. Creativity has always been a part of my life.
We are all connected. Connection and connectivity are themes present throughout most of my visual art. Although I do not consciously focus on this when I’m creating a new piece, it becomes clear after looking at the finished piece that it has manifested. I think connection is at the heart of creation.
